Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli's Parenting Philosophy: A Balanced Family Unit
Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli are celebrated as one of India's most beloved celebrity couples, admired for their enduring love and their thoughtful approach to parenting and family life. Their relationship, which began in 2013, quickly captured public attention with their undeniable chemistry both on and off-screen.
The couple married in a beautiful ceremony in Tuscany, Italy, in December 2017. Their family expanded with the birth of their daughter, Vamika, in January 2021, and their son, Akaay, in February 2024.
Family First: A United Approach to Parenting
In an interview with Vogue, Anushka shared insights into their parenting philosophy. She emphasized the importance of shared responsibilities and a balanced outlook. "We don’t see it as mum and dad duties, but as a family unit," she explained. "For us, it’s important that our child be raised with a very balanced outlook. In Virat’s case, he plays around the year. What becomes important is the time we spend together as a family.”
Leading by Example
Anushka also highlighted how children learn by observing their parents. "Times have changed. It’s important for children to look at parents—they learn from you. And there is a sense of normalcy that both of us do work. Of course, one will have to manage things differently and more efficiently to work.”
Privacy Matters: Protecting Their Children from the Public Eye
Unlike many celebrity couples, Anushka and Virat have chosen to keep their children away from the constant glare of social media. They rarely share photos of Vamika and Akaay, making a conscious effort to protect their family's privacy.
Anushka explained their decision: “We’ve thought about it a lot. We definitely do not want to raise a child in the public eye—we don’t plan on engaging our child in social media. I think it’s a decision your child should be able to take. No kid should be made to be more special than the other. It’s hard enough for adults to deal with it. It’s going to be difficult, but we intend to follow through.”
Anushka Sharma's last screen appearance was a cameo in the OTT film ‘Qala’. Currently, she is embracing motherhood and dedicating her time to family life.
