Vir Das, the acclaimed stand-up comedian and actor known for his wit and insightful social commentary, has shared his thoughts on Aamir Khan's latest film, 'Sitaare Zameen Par'. The movie, a remake of the Spanish film 'Champions', features disabled children alongside Aamir Khan and Genelia D'souza Deshmukh.
Das expressed his appreciation for the film's heartwarming nature and comedic elements. In his review, he wrote: "Folks! Go see #SitaareZameenPar. Not just because it’s REALLY good and breezy. Not just because the ensemble wins your heart. Not just because it’s someone of massive stature constantly sharing his platform for meaningful content. Not just because it’s a departure from the action overload. But also because it’s genuinely funny."
He further elaborated on the film's unique comedic approach: "In a comedy scene one party has to hold power and drive. That’s basic comedy 101. The best comedy surprises you with that choice. It wears its heart on its sleeve and gives power, prominence, and punch lines to those comedy normally doesn’t. That makes it WAY funnier. Go see it! In theatres now."
Despite predictions of a single-digit opening, 'Sitaare Zameen Par' exceeded expectations, earning approximately Rs 11.7 crore on its opening day, according to Sacnilk. This strong performance suggests positive word-of-mouth and potential growth over the weekend.
