During the second innings of the Edgbaston Test, Rishabh Pant faced more than just deliveries from the English bowlers; he also had to contend with some verbal sparring from Harry Brook. In an attempt to unsettle the Indian wicket-keeper batsman, Brook resorted to some playful sledging during Pant's rapid half-century.

Brook, probing for a reaction, quizzed Pant on his fastest Test hundred. The intent was clear: to goad Pant into playing a reckless innings.

Pant, however, remained unfazed. He calmly responded, referencing the measured tempo of his previous Test centuries, estimating "maybe 80-90 minutes".

Undeterred, Brook playfully brought up his own blistering record in the IPL, boasting about a century off just 55 balls and suggesting Pant could replicate the feat that day.

But Pant refused to take the bait. With a composed smile, he shut down Brook's attempt, stating he wasn't "too greedy for records," and that such achievements would come naturally if they were meant to.

After a score of 25 in the first innings, Pant delivered a counter-attacking knock of 65 from 58 balls, punctuated by eight fours and three sixes.

Across 28 Tests in SENA countries, Pant has amassed 2,023 runs at an average of 41.28. This includes six centuries and six half-centuries in 52 innings, with a highest score of 159 not out.
