Kajol jokes about putting Ajay Devgn on trial

Kajol is returning to the big screen in Ajay Devgn's production, Maa, a mythological drama set to release on June 27th, 2025. This comes after her OTT debut in 'The Trial.' During Maa's promotion, Kajol shared her aversion to horror films, contrasting with her family's love for the genre, and humorously revealed how she watches them without sound.

This cinematic venture follows Kajol's OTT debut two years prior in "The Trial: Pyaar, Kaanoon, Dhokha." During the promotional activities for "The Trial", Kajol was playfully asked which real-life person she would put on trial. Her response? Her husband, Ajay Devgn.

"I’d put Ajay Devgn on trial and I don't even need to give any reason for it. Being a husband is more than a reason to put him on trial — and knowing him, he will even accept the charges," she jested. This humorous remark quickly became viral, with fans applauding the couple's lighthearted banter and comfortable relationship.

Now, the celebrated duo is set to collaborate professionally once again. "Maa" is being heralded as one of Kajol’s most emotionally resonant performances in recent years. The film delves into the journey of a mother as she navigates personal loss, resilience, and the ultimate sacrifice. Industry sources suggest that the film will present Kajol in a role of considerable emotional depth.

During the promotion of "Maa", Kajol admitted her general dislike of horror films. “There are so many things in life that scare you naturally. You don't have to watch a movie, basically,” she explained.

Despite her personal feelings, Kajol is surrounded by family members who are avid horror enthusiasts. “My husband, my son, my nephews — everybody around me loves, loves, loves horror. They watch at least one film every week. Come hell or high water.”

Kajol does watch a few horror classics, but with a unique twist. “I watch these films without sound. Without sound, I’m not that scared,” she revealed. This tactic is one that many apprehensive viewers can likely relate to – silencing the startling moments while still enjoying the visual spectacle.
