Swing king Bhuvneshwar Kumar once again showed his quality in the Indian domestic circuit. Bowling in the UP T20 League against Gaur Gorakhpur Lions, Bhuvi's touch of class bamboozled opposition batters on Friday night, August 22.
The seamer, who won the Indian Premier League with Royal Challengers Bengaluru last season, bowled a terrific opening spell. He troubled opener Aryan Juyal consistently with his outswing and was unlucky not to get the batter's wicket.
Playing for Lucknow Falcons, Bhuvneshwar Kumar showed his vintage ability to take the ball both in and out of the batter, putting Juyal in a heap of trouble. From his four overs, the seamer conceded only 16 runs, which included just one boundary.
The seamer, however, was not able to help his side defend the 182-run target at Lucknow's Ekana Stadium. Twenty-two-year-old Siddharth Yadav ripped into the Falcons' spinners and smashed 88* off just 45 balls to win a thriller for the Lions.
Needing 22 runs to win in the final over of the match, Yadav hit 3 sixes and a four to secure the win for the Lions.
Despite his heroics in the IPL 2025, where he picked up 17 wickets, Bhuvneshwar Kumar is nowhere in contention for the Indian white-ball team. The pacer last played an ODI game for India in 2022, against South Africa in Paarl. His last T20I came way back in 2018, against the same opponent at Johannesburg.
India currently have a fast bowling line-up of Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, Hardik Pandya and Harshit Rana in the T20I set-up. They have been selected for the Asia Cup 2025.
